On November 14 a lawsuit was filed: CompassCare vs Cuomo. CompassCare, a pro-life employer, contends that the law violates their freedom of religion by forcing them to disregard their beliefs by promoting abortion in its staffing practices.
CompassCare insists they are Christian first and foremost and have a right to set their own staffing policy. They argue that New York has no right to use the coercive power of government to impose their secular beliefs.
This law forces pro-life Christian groups to carry the ideological water of New York’s politically powerful.
