For Immediate Release: February 23, 2025
At a recent press conference, new US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced lawsuits against New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Attorney General Letitia James saying, “New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens.” This amounts to a conspiracy to violate federal law, “shielding illegal immigrants.” It gets worse. Gov. Hochul and AG James have made New York an abortion sanctuary state, shielding criminal abortionists from prosecution. Hochul and James would rather harass pro-life pregnancy centers providing women with millions of dollars-worth of free medical care and support than protect women from the serial malpractice of the abortion industry.
On December 12, 2024, Texas Attorney General Paxton sued NY abortionist Margaret Daley Carpenter for violating Texas law, mailing abortion pills to a Texas woman who wound up in the emergency room. Carpenter was later fined $100,000 for the incident. On February 12, 2025, Louisiana Attorney General Murrill signed an extradition order for the same abortionist after a grand jury indicted her for violations of LA State Law on the shipment of chemical abortion and collusion with a Louisiana woman to coerce a minor to take the abortion pills and end a pregnancy she wanted to continue.
NY Governor Kathy Hochul dismissed AG Murrill’s demand for extradition, citing the recently passed Shield Law, legislation designed to obstruct inter-state investigations into illegal acts of NY abortionists. This has effectively turned NY into an abortion sanctuary state—flouting the Federal Comstock Act and many States’ laws. AG Murrill retorted, “This child was NOT this doctor’s patient,” Murril wrote. “She never met her, saw her, or knew anything about her. The child is a victim. [Gov. Hochul] is protecting a drug dealer who victimized a child.”
NY became an abortion tourism destination in 1970 (3 years before Roe v Wade), and since then has been America’s abortion headquarters. Since the overturn of Roe, it is estimated abortion is up in NY 90%. Today, it is not only a destination to which women from states like Texas and Louisiana travel to get abortions, but NY protects abortionists endangering women and girls who are illegally sent dangerous chemical abortion drugs in the mail.
Pam Bondi, during her Senate confirmation hearings, was asked by Sen. Josh Hawley, “Will you protect churches and pregnancy care centers when they are targeted for violence, when they are targeted for intimidation…?” She said, “Yes, Senator.” Rev. Jim Harden, CEO of firembombed pro-life medical network says, “This means that we can expect political bad actors, like Hochul and James, who undermine the rule of law along with their fellow criminal abortionists, will be investigated, indicted, and possibly fined and imprisoned for illicit chemical abortion drug trafficking and racketeering in violation of the Comstock Act and for illegally targeting pro-life pregnancy centers.”
Rev. Harden continued, “Instead of protecting women and holding abortionists accountable for malpractice and wrongful death, Hochul and James target pro-life pregnancy centers through lawfare and threaten us with their new Stalinist Empire State Freedom Initiative, seeking to shut us down. Their actions only rob women of true choice,”
Despite the attacks from Hochul and James, CompassCare is continuing to expand free, essential, life-saving services to women in the two largest abortion hubs in the nation, Brooklyn and the Bronx.
“It makes me happy to see that VP Vance and President Trump believe the work of pro-life pregnancy centers like CompassCare is too important to shut down,” Rev. Harden says. “It is only logical for them to see us before they sue us. That is why I’ve invited Letitia James, Kathy Hochul, Hakeem Jeffries, Yvette Clarke, Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand, and AOC to attend the Grand Opening of CompassCare’s two new medical offices in the Bronx and Brooklyn on March 4 and 5.”
Help CompassCare expand to reach and serve even more women seriously considering abortion in NY and across the United States.
