Have you ever felt like the odds were stacked against you? Has there ever been a time in your life when it seemed the whole world was arrayed against you—a no-win situation?
For Israel, this pressure was not just a feeling during the time of Jeremiah. “The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army, with all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his dominion and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem and against all its cities…” (Jer. 34:1). All the kingdoms and peoples of the earth?
A woman considers aborting her baby because all the armies of social circumstance, culture, finance, and more appear to tear down the walls of her security. So, often out of desperation, she is tempted to sacrifice the life of her baby to survive. The enemies of her soul lie to her, insisting that she must choose between her life or her baby’s life.
If only she knew that she could throw herself on the mercy of a loving God who will forgive her and honor her right decisions, she would learn—as you and I have learned—that faith in Jesus makes a way where there is no way.
I was reminded of this powerful truth recently when at a birthday party. One of our friends came over and said, “A lady at our church is the mother of a CompassCare baby! I’ve been meaning to tell you!” She said, “…if it wasn’t for CompassCare her daughter would not be here today. She is now walking with the Lord, happily married and her daughter is now four years old!”

For someone who has been feeling battle-weary, like the whole world is arrayed against our pro-life efforts, this whisp of testimony came as a breath of fresh air. As you know, CompassCare has been facing many giants these last several years just to keep serving women and saving babies. There are pro-abortion extremists who engage in and threaten violence. There are frivolous lawsuits by pro-abortion activists. There is legislation targeting pro-life pregnancy care work. Even New York’s Attorney General has attacked CompassCare. And on top of that, there is the need to communicate these uncomfortable realities to supporters. All with the daily pressure that comes with managing the largest (and growing) pro-life medical service organization in the State.
The good Lord knows just how to encourage a weary soul as the lifesaving work continues against great odds. Often, the Lord’s encouragement is delivered simply by another soul, like a nurse telling a pregnant mom that she is not alone. Like a friend telling me about a thriving CompassCare baby and mom she attends church with.
Imagine how many CompassCare babies are alive and well today because of you and the rest of the CompassCare team. So far in 2024, over 2069 women considering abortion have been served with ethical medical care and reminded of the glorious truth of God’s love so far this year!
And when this age is rolled up like a scroll, imagine how many CompassCare babies we will meet in heaven because you persevered in your faith for them this year. And despite the fact that the whole world may appear to fight against us, we are strengthened by the truth of our Creator, “The LORD is King forever and ever…O LORD, Thou hast heard the desire of the humble; Thou wilt strengthen their heart, Thou wilt incline Thine ear to vindicate the orphan and the oppressed that man who is of the earth may cause terror no more” (Ps. 10:16-18).
Ten Served Grace
Being pregnant isn’t easy, but to Grace walking the gritty streets of Brooklyn, it seemed impossible. She is just 16-years-old. While her friends were busy making plans for summer, Grace’s life felt dismal. Not only that, her mom is so disappointed and just wants Grace to “solve the problem.” Feeling stuck, abortion seemed like the only option. Grace wanted a relationship with her mom and hoped her life would return to normal. Grace was searching for help online when she found CompassCare. Read more.
