On January 24, Donald Trump became the first President in 47 years to address the hundreds of thousands who pilgrimage to the annual March for Life. During his remarks President Trump said, “Every child is a precious and sacred gift from God.” He went on to say, “When we see the image of a baby in the womb, we glimpse the majesty of God’s creation.”
Trump’s remarks met with vigorous applause because the pro-life position holds that because every human is made in the image of God each are equally valuable…deserving of equal protection under the law. Pro-lifers understand that if government is permitted to narrow the definition of a human excluding certain categories of people, like preborn babies, then those groups of people become the targets of legalized oppression or destruction, like abortion.
