The U.S. abortion industry is restructuring ahead of a shift in the abortion battleground from the Federal level to the state. NARAL is the nation’s oldest, and at twenty-five million in annual revenue, the largest abortion lobby. Fearing the Supreme Court will allow states to restrict abortion as early as next year, the abortion juggernaut is regrouping. The conservative leaning court has the potential to dramatically change the U.S. abortion landscape by allowing states to severely restrict the practice. It is estimated that at least half the states would outlaw the practice if given the opportunity. Planned Parenthood is anticipating the shift too, buttressing resources in abortion hub states. According to their website, expanding abortion facilities in Western New York is part of a larger strategy to compensate for the abortion tourism dynamic a federal policy shift would cause.
